Son Abandons Sick Father in Restaurant Because He Was ‘Tired’ of Looking after Him

A heartbreaking video surfaced on social media where a man quietly abandoned his elderly father inside a busy restaurant. Netizens were divided upon learning what made the man leave his father.

Many people spend most of their lives raising their children to the best of their abilities, only to say goodbye to them when they become adults.

Later in life, frail and without much strength, they yearn to see their children, but only a few get to spend time with their offspring. Not all children take care of their elderly parents.

A security camera at a restaurant in Brazil showed a 35-year-old man walking in with his 65-year-old father. Wearing a white hat hiding his face from the overhead camera, the man holds his father close..

Nothing seems fishy as the man is seen entering the restaurant holding his father's hand. He walks towards a table for two and slides one chair out for his father. After the older man sits at the table, his son steps back, turns around, and walks towards the exit.

After the man left, his father remained seated at the table. It wasn't until two hours later that the restaurant employees noticed him.

The Man Revealed Why He Abandoned His Father

When the employees approached the elderly man and learned that his son had abandoned him, they immediately called the police for help.

Netizens were divided after watching the heartbreaking video and learning why the man abandoned his father.

The police began their investigation and soon traced the older man's son through the security camera footage. The young man had parked his vehicle outside the restaurant, and the police found his details through the license plate number.

As the police continued their investigation, they learned that the older man was sick and depended on his family for care. According to the son, his father had been like that since 2016.

The young man added that his father had become aggressive over time, and the family often witnessed his episodes of aggression.

After the police detained the young man for abandoning his father, he confessed that he was "tired" of looking after his father, explaining:

"It was a lot of work."

The son told the police his frail father often experienced psychotic breakdowns, making things difficult for the family. While still in detention, the man asked the authorities to take his father to a better place, still not wanting to look after the elderly man.

As a result, the police moved the older man to a hospital, where he received proper care while the son remained at the police station.

Netizens were divided after watching the heartbreaking video and learning why the man abandoned his father. They posted their opinions in the comments section when the video surfaced online.

Some people condemned the son's actions. One netizen said, "Mercy. What's happening to humanity? His own father."

"My God! It's going to be two years since I lost my father, and it's an immense pain," another online user confessed. "Watch something like this, and you'll cry."

A third netizen posted a heartbreaking message, writing, "I've seen many fathers abandoning their children, but this is the first time I've seen a son abandoning his father."

Meanwhile, other users sided with the young man, saying the older man must have done something wrong. A netizen spoke about a father she knew wasn't fair to his family: "I know one who is like a dog with his children. He doesn't value his children or his family. He only values material things. When he gets old, he wants his children to take care of him."

The same user further explained that some people do "everything wrong" with their children and, later in life, expect their kids to look after them. The netizen said such people "should know why" their children refuse to care for them.
