People Call Baby Girl a ‘Monster’ & ‘Ugly’ – Her Parents Gave up Their Jobs to Keep Her Alive
A little girl named Batya was born with a rare condition that caused her skull to deform and her spine to twist. Doctors said she was "not compatible with life," but her devoted parents, Naffi and Racheli Goldman, love and care for her.
In the face of extraordinary challenges, Batya, born on January 3, 2018, embarked on a remarkable journey. Afflicted with both Pfeiffer Syndrome and the rare Antley-Bixler Syndrome, her early days were a fierce battle for survival. Against all odds, Batya defied the uncertainties of life, overcoming numerous obstacles in her path.
During the crucial first three months after her birth, Batya's fight for life became arduous. Astonishingly, she experienced six instances of revival, each emerging more vital and determined. However, her path was only with its trials. Due to her condition, Batya faces the daunting challenges of being both blind and deaf.
Her mother, Racheli, revealed the details of what she went through when she was pregnant with Batya, "At the end of the sixth month of the pregnancy we went to have a scan, really only to see and get excited like any couple expecting their first child. The test started and after a few minutes of absolute silence on the part of the doctor we immediately realize that something was wrong," she said.
The doctor turned to Naffi and Racheli and asked if they had been told the pregnancy was going well. They replied that everything was expected, but the doctor immediately stated, "You have a very sick child, she is very ill not compatible with life and there is no point in continuing this pregnancy, you should abort it straight away."
Despite all the doctors who said that this child would make Naffi and Racheli's life miserable and unhappy, they decided not to terminate the pregnancy, "The basis of our faith is kindness, and therefore, we believe that everything happens for a reason and that we cannot understand the ways of GOD ! We accept every experience with love, gratitude and joy!" said Racheli.
Immediately after birth, Batya was taken to the neonatal intensive care unit and placed in an incubator. Naffi and Racheli gave up their business to be with their daughter around the clock. Three and a half months later, they could take Batya home.
"We felt that Batya deserved warmth and love like any other child, we did not think that because she was ill, that we would abandon her. We knew this was going to be a very difficult challenge. Life changing."
However, after they posted pictures of their daughter on the Internet, some people started writing terrible things about Batya, "When we saw the comments on our photographs we were horrified. We didn't think people like this existed," said Naffi.
"What people were saying was dreadful. People said they have never seen such an ugly child. They said our child is a creature. One person said what we are doing is abuse and someone told us she looks like some kind of monster."
As caring parents, Naffi and Racheli believe Batya deserves love and affection like any other child. Therefore, despite all the angry comments and life's difficulties, they continue to care for their daughter,
"Batya needs monitoring and supervision 24/7 and we work around the clock in shifts. I do midday to midnight, and my husband does midnight to midday. We want to give Batya the best care and the most comfort, and we are not willing to give her up."
Due to the necessity of quitting their jobs, Naffi and Racheli have started a page on GoFundMe, seeking financial assistance, "Please help us care for Batya and keep her alive, happy and well. Thank you so much and we will be happy if you will share this post to everyone in your network," said Racheli.
The heartfelt support goes out to all parents raising children like Batya. These parents' strength and commitment profoundly impact their children's lives.
