Britney Budhi gave birth to her baby girl, Teyana, at 37 weeks via Cesarean section. The newborn weighed just 4 pounds and 13 ounces.

The 29-year-old Indonesian-Italian mother from Sydney said her daughter was born early because her slight frame couldn't support the baby's rapid growth to full term.

According to Britney, she is naturally small, and there wasn't enough room for the baby to grow properly, so doctors told her the baby would thrive better on the outside.

Teyana, whose father is Burmese-Pakistani, was kept in NICU for two weeks, where she grew very fast, putting on weight. However, she also had an unusual physical feature that made her mother coin a nickname for her, which many people found completely inappropriate.

What Did the Mom Say about Calling Her Daughter a "Baby Monkey"?

In a video Britney posted on her TikTok, she showed Teyana being carried by her father, highlighting the little girl's hairy skin on her back and parts of her face. She captioned the video, "I love my baby monkey."

The mother also shared another video where she said her baby was a "lil monkey," subsequently earning the ire of people who slammed her for calling her baby such.

Britney was quick to defend her actions, claiming the nickname was a term of endearment that shouldn't be taken in a negative light. However, she understands the negative connotation behind likening someone to a primate. Regardless, the mother clarified:

"At the end of the day it is my social media and my baby. And I think she is perfect, I am absolutely obsessed with her - I know all mums are but I think I am even more obsessed than that."

Britney also explained that babies who are born so small often have hair covering their bodies to keep them warm. She added that all babies in utero have hair, including babies born early and tiny.

Teyana's mother was not shocked when her newborn was born with lots of hair, as she had stumbled across another hairy baby on TikTok while pregnant. This exposure ensured Britney and her partner that it was possible for a baby to be born with lots of hair.

Currently, Britney administers insulin injections to Teyana at home and takes her to doctor's appointments.

The uproar surrounding Britney's post calling her baby a monkey lasted for a couple of months. However, Britney wasn't concerned with the negativity. She noted that when people choose to put their lives online, they should be ready to see negative things that people are going to say:

The mother even hit back at some of the negative comments. When one person told her they didn't like how her baby looked, she replied, "If you have nothing nice to say don't say it at all. This is extremely normal in premmie babies. You're old you should know better."

Aside from the negative comments, Britney also got lots of positive comments from mothers who related to her. Some people jokingly told Britney to shave her baby, while others told her they were also born with hair, and their parents called them little monkeys too.

One person told Britney that her baby monkey was "so cute." Britney also responded with laughter to a woman who called her baby "Part gorilla." Britney's response to the woman was, "YES HAHAHAHAHA KING KONG."

Another woman told Britney that their babies looked the same as they were both called "little monkey." An online user also said Britney's baby was "very lovely and needs lots of cuddles."

Britney is proud of her baby and jokes that she is her "little parasite." The mother said she would continue calling her "all the names under the sun."

How Does the Baby Look Now and Why Is She "Brave"?

Teyana is now a toddler, and her mother said her hair started falling off when she put on weight. She now has beautiful black hair that her mother sometimes holds in a cute little bun, though more often than not, her hair is kept loose.

Britney's daughter was also diagnosed with diabetes. Her mother said some of the symptoms she saw in her daughter included frequent urination and drinking lots of water.

Britney admitted feeling guilty for not picking up on the symptoms sooner. By the time she consulted the doctors who tested Teyana's ketones, they found out she was already in diabetic shock.

Currently, Britney administers insulin injections to Teyana at home and takes her to doctor's appointments. She even shared videos of herself administering insulin injections to her daughter on TikTok. "Let me tell you, this shiiii is exhausting, but it's all worth it to see my daughter alive and well," she confessed.

Another mother agreed with Britney that living that life was tiring, but acknowledged, "Our babies are so brave." And brave Teyana was according to commenters who applauded the little tot for taking the insulin injections with very little fuss. "Oh Sweets, she's so brave," one remarked, while another wrote "Such a brave Bubba good job mumma."

More people agreed that Teyana was brave. In all the videos Britney posted, her daughter only shed a few tears and didn't give her mother a hard time with her insulin injections. "What a brave muffin she already knows the drill bless her," an individual noted.

Other mothers commended Britney for being a great mother and for ensuring Teyana got her insulin injections. "Good mumma, beautiful child, our kids our [sic] everything Xxxxxx," a mother praised Britney.
