- Oakley Carlson was last seen alive in February 2021 before authorities learned she went missing.
- Upon investigation, the authorities learned some disturbing details about Oakley's treatment at home.
- The girl's mother was recently jailed for identity theft.
Oakley Carlson became a subject of interest for law enforcement agencies and media after she went missing in February 2021. The 5-year-old resident of Washington lived with her 6-year-old sister, a sibling, and parents, Jordan Bowers and Andrew Carlson.
The girl was reported missing by a resident in December 2021, after which officials from the Grays Harbor Sheriff's Office visited the Carlson house to investigate the case.
Instead of cooperating with the authorities, Oakley's parents allegedly refused to let them continue their investigation. As a result, the officers arrested the couple and later charged them for second-degree abandonment of their child besides Oakley and her sister.
Although the parents haven't faced any charges regarding Oakley's disappearance, investigators consider them suspects. Moreover, a recent court document reveals Bowers' alleged mistreatment of her children before the girl went missing.
What Did Court Documents Say about the Girl's Mother?
Recent court documents suggest Oakley's parents locked her in a "cell" below their house's staircase before she went missing in February 2021. Moreover, when the authorities asked Oakley's sister about her, she said multiple things.
According to Oakley's sister, her mother beat the young girl before her disappearance. The girl said Oakley had started the house fire, which made Bowers hit her. The girl also said her missing sister was "under her mother's bed and in the woods."
While talking to the investigators, the 6-year-old girl said her mother forbade her from speaking about Oakley and that her missing sister had been eaten by the wolves." When their other sibling later spoke about Oakley's mistreatment by her mother, Oakley's sister agreed with what was said.
This wasn't the only time Bowers and Carlson were on the police's radar. Previously, the authorities had arrested them for exposing their children to drugs. After they pleaded guilty and spent time behind bars, the authorities released Carlson while his wife remained in jail.

"I don't feel good about knowing that Andrew is free," Oakley's foster mother, Jamie Jo Hiles, said. The woman believed it was unfair for the children that their father was released after mistreating them, and their mother would eventually be set free. She added:
"Where does that put Oakley? Where does that put her siblings?"

The Grays Harbor Sheriff's Office released an age-progressed photo of Oakley to locate her more than two years after she was last seen alive. They uploaded the photo on Facebook, where Oakley's foster grandmother said, "The photo is good."
Where Are Oakley's Parents Now?
The police have released Carlson while his wife remains in jail for further charges of identity theft. The authorities found three credit cards in the toilet of a hotel room she stayed at while they were looking for her missing daughter.
The woman claims the wolves have eaten her daughter, while her husband hasn't helped the police in any way to find Oakley. The couple remains the prime suspects in this case as the police investigate Oakley's whereabouts.
Bowers was arrested for identity theft after she allegedly stole data from her friends and family to create fake bank accounts. According to authorities, she then got credit cards for those accounts and used them for online shopping and gambling.
