A mother-of-two wrote a detailed post in Reddit's "confession" subreddit where she revealed why she wanted to get rid of her younger son. Before sharing her feelings online, she said she couldn't even talk to her therapist about this.

The woman knew she would receive criticism after posting her thoughts on Reddit, but she wanted to know what other Redditors would do if they were in her place. She wanted honest advice from them.

The woman shared she was singlehandedly raising her sons, who were 12 and 7. She recalled losing her husband three years before she wrote the post, stating that he died in an accident at work.

While everyone believed that was true, the woman highly suspected her husband had taken his life at work. Since she knew him inside out, she thought the cause of his death didn't make sense because he would never make the mistake that cost him his life. She said:

Why Doesn't the Mother Love Her Son?

Before writing why she didn't love her younger son, the woman recalled the time she was pregnant with him. The doctors told the couple they would have a baby with Down syndrome but didn't know how severe his condition would be.

Excited to welcome their second baby into this world, the couple agreed not to abort their baby and were ready to raise a child with Down syndrome. However, things did not go as planned because their son had a rare condition due to a chromosome deletion.

The mother shared that her son was "capable of nothing" and had no "awareness." She shared that he was tube fed and wore diapers, and his condition didn't allow him to respond to touch, pain, or noise. Besides that, he couldn't move his eyes.

"He makes no sounds, no attempts to communicate. He never even really cried as a baby," the mother of two added. Before giving birth, the woman thought she would raise a child with Down syndrome, but her younger son's birth was a completely different experience. She said:

"I didn't get an imperfect child. I didn't get a child."

The woman confessed that she didn't love her younger son because he had no personality. As a result, she never developed an emotional bond with him. All she did was take care of him without knowing what he felt.

In her detailed post, the woman confessed she "should have miscarried" her younger son. According to her, she would have never continued her pregnancy had she known her son would grow up like this.

While writing about her son's condition, the woman said she didn't want him in her house, adding that he wouldn't be bothered by his location. "If he has likes and dislikes, no one knows what they are. If he is in pain, he can't tell anyone," she said.

Being his mother, the woman had tried everything possible to make her son feel comfortable. She had tried changing his position to make him feel comfortable and hired therapists to help him feel things and communicate, but nothing worked.

How Is the Relationship between the Woman's Sons?

Because the woman was always busy caring for her younger son, her older son felt left out. Moreover, the 12-year-old sometimes didn't get medical care on time because the woman prioritized her younger son since he had multiple severe medical issues.

One day, the woman was in her house when she heard an unusual sound from her younger son's bedroom. Thinking the boy must have forgotten how to breathe, she rushed to rescue him.

However, upon reaching there, the mother was surprised to see her older son yelling at his brother. The boy thought his younger brother was the reason he did not have a mother or a father. He felt he couldn't invite his friends to his house because of his brother.

"I didn't ask for you, and I hope you die!" The boy yelled at his brother while the woman watched him. She didn't stop her older son because she wanted to see if the younger one would react, but he didn't.

Since her younger son did not react to anything and was a source of inconvenience in her life, she thought it would be better to send him to a residential facility. She felt relieved and excited about her life without him because she knew she and her older son would be happy without him.

Before ending her post, the woman said she believed her late husband was "tired and defeated and disappointed" because he had worked overtime to pay for their younger son's expensive therapies, but nothing worked. She believed her late husband didn't have the courage to say he wanted to get rid of his younger son.

After sending her son away from her home, the woman wanted to care for her older son because she had seen how damaged he was. She planned to care for him while someone else would get paid to look after her younger one.

Do you think the mother did the right thing by putting her younger son into a residential facility? Is there any other solution to her problem?

Here is another story about a new mother who abandoned her baby with Down syndrome. Soon, a priest found the baby and brought him home.
