Man Who Dreamed Of Having a Family Is ‘Not Happy about the Baby’ Yet Wife Is 6 Months Pregnant

A woman took to Reddit to ask for help regarding her situation. She was married to a man who was unhappy with their current state in life, even though they'd just welcomed a baby boy.

The 28-year-old woman had been with her 38-year-old husband since 2015. After five years of dating, they wed in 2020.

Throughout their early relationship, they'd already gone through a lot together. They moved to another country and traveled around Europe.

They lived carefree lives together, and their main goal was to have fun. Despite this, the topic of settling down and one day having a child was something they'd talk about.

The couple agreed that after all the time they'd spent wandering about, having a child and finally settling down would be a nice thing to do. So, their marriage was the first step to achieving this goal.

The Woman Didn't Mind the Red Flags

The man had a child from a previous relationship. Through the years, she'd hear her husband gushing about how much he loved his son and saw him buying presents. However, he never made an effort to see the young boy. His wife wondered whether this was a red flag that she refused to note.

In a year, they'd see each other twice, for only a couple of days. He believed that his ex-girlfriend and her new husband could handle the primary caretaking.

"To me, he was always saying how he loves children and can't wait to have children with me. So we married because I said I [didn't] want to be a single mother and I want[ed] a ring before I [got] pregnant. Now, I am 6 months pregnant with our first baby boy," she explained.

Their Sudden Move Made the Man Sad

The couple moved back to their home country so they could raise their child. The woman's father gave them an apartment, and she got a job to earn a living while dealing with pregnancy hormones.

Meanwhile, her husband was unemployed and yet did not help with any of the household chores. The woman carried all the load, and it exhausted her.

The truth was her husband hated living in their home country. He hated how it looked, the food, the fact that he felt obliged to visit his family, and even their apartment.

He didn't make an effort to find a job, even though many companies were looking to hire people immediately. Other than being unemployed, he began taking substances.

While the substances were legal in their home country, the woman was paying for them on top of the many other things she needed to pay for. It frustrated her.

She believed they did the right thing moving back because it was in their home country that their child could grow up in a stable, happy environment. The woman even told her husband that when their child grew up, they could go back to living abroad.

One day, she broke down in front of her dad regarding her husband's behavior. She felt stressed by her husband's lack of responsibility, and she could no longer take his toxic negativity about hating his new life.

The woman's father assured her that no matter what happened, he would support her in her needs. He asked his daughter to take care of herself and the baby.

However, while she was grateful for her dad's help, it didn't solve her problems with her husband. She wanted him to realize what he was missing out on and finally own up to the responsibilities of having a child.

It got to a point where the woman asked her husband whether he hated her and the baby. He'd say no and insisted they were the only ones making him happy.

"But I can see in his eyes how unhappy he is," the woman admitted. "I really don't know how to change this situation."

She asked for help online, and people urged her to rethink being married to the man. "Hi, as someone who had a freeloader as a husband, you betcha. Because you feel like your husband's mother, It's why I'm now happily divorced," one wrote.

"As much as it sucks to be a single mom, it probably sucks much worse to have a husband that's a freeloader, negative in every aspect of his life, and doesn't care about/help with their kid. He's just wasting their time, and she's better off without him," another echoed.

"Your husband didn't give a damn about his first child. He took off, living abroad, carefree... Are you actually surprised that he's acting this way now that the party is over?" a user asked.
