'Looking like Your Parents': Mariska Hargitay Shows Rarely-Seen Big Brother Who Shares Same Name as Famous Dad

Hollywood actress Mariska Hargitay showed her rarely-seen "protective" big brother who shares the same name as their famous late dad. People who saw the photo said both siblings look like their late parents. The star's brother chose a different path away from the glitz and glam Hollywood lifestyle.

Famous actress Mariska Hargitay, 59, took to Instagram to share a photo of her and her rarely-seen older brother. Hargitay's brother, Mickey Hargitay Jr., shares the same name as their famous late father, Mickey Hargitay, who was a Hungarian-American actor.

In the post, Mariska and Mickey Jr., whose birthday was yesterday, embrace each other in a side hug as they stare and smile at the camera. The second slide (after the sibling photo) and Mariska's caption indicate that Mickey Jr. is in the plant business, as Mariska shared a picture of his work vehicle that had his company name and contact details printed on its side.

When fans saw the picture of Mariska and Mickey Jr., whom she calls her "protective" big brother, they marveled at the resemblance shared between them and their late parents, Mickey and Jayne Mansfield. One fan said, "This is so sweet...looking like your parents the both of uuu.. (sic)"

Another complimented, "Those Hargitay/Mansfield genes are really something else dude; how do y'all just walk down the street being so good-looking?" and someone else commented, "Family genes running deep, beautiful sibs. (sic)"

Although Mickey Jr. and his sister were thrust into a life of fame, given that they were born to two stars working in the entertainment industry, the blue-eyed 65-year-old chose a different life path away from the glitz and glam of Hollywood. Instead of following in his actor parents' footsteps, Mickey Jr. started his own plant business and has a shop called Mickey Hargitay Plants in Hollywood.

Plants have always been a passion of the business owner who would sell macrame plant hangers with his friends as a teenager in the 70s. Of his decision to pursue a route different than that of his parents and sister, Mickey Jr. explained, "[My] family made decisions to reach for the stars and I've wanted to keep my feet on the ground. I've wanted to do something that seems more grounded and is more real."

For Mickey Jr., unlike the ever-changing and unpredictable nature of the showbiz industry, plants have always been a steadying and constant presence in his life.
