Scary experiences can sometimes be explained, and sometimes not, as contributors to the AskReddit subreddits have testified by sharing the following horror-filled tales.

Couple Hears Baby Crying

One person's chilling story was how their oldest child had a monitor when she was a baby. He recalled hearing the child cry and went to her room to soothe her back to sleep. However, when the parent reached the room, the baby was asleep. Yet, upon his return to his room, the child started crying again.

His wife asked if he didn't soothe their baby, and he revealed she was asleep when he got there. The parents decided to check on their daughter together the second time and they found their baby fast asleep. The monitor was quiet when they returned to their room and went to sleep, with the original poster (OP) stating:

"Then we hear over the monitor a woman's voice quietly say 'pick her up.'"

The couple ran back to their daughter's room only to find no one there and the child still asleep. The next day they discovered their neighbors bought the same monitor as the one they owned and it was on the same channel. They were hearing their neighbors' child and when they changed the channel on their monitor all was well.

Something Went into the Bathroom with This Reddit User

A Reddit user recalled being alone in his apartment when he decided to take a shower. He locked the door, that could only be unlocked from the inside, out of habit.

His clean and dirty clothes were on the bathroom floor in separate piles. When he finished showering, his dirty and clean clothes were "neatly folded in two separate stacks on the floor!" He typically took quick showers, and the door was still locked after his five-minute task.

OP couldn't explain what happened but still gets goosebumps when thinking about it. Nothing similar has occurred since then.

The Disappearing Mug

This Redditor was surprised when his mug made no noise when it fell to the floor one day. Upon closer inspection, he couldn't find the mug, it had vanished.

The social media user confessed to pondering what happened while in bed and slept "feeling incredibly uncomfortable." They revealed that they never found the mug again and to this day it still bothered them.

Lady Walks Into Their House before Disappearing

The next Reddit user said when he was around five or six he was sitting on the deck behind his family home which was an old farmhouse. He recalled seeing an old woman ascend the steps into the house, completely ignoring his presence.

Surprised, he followed her inside to see who she was and found his mother standing in the kitchen which was the room right of the back deck. He asked his mother who the woman was and she gave him a confused look. The original owner of the farmhouse happened to have died around that time, and OP was convinced he'd seen her!

A Floating Fright

A fifth person also shared their short story of paranormal activity sharing that he and his wife both saw something frightening. The couple witnessed a severed, green, floating head in the middle of the night, an experience that left them questioning their disbelief in ghosts.

Sometime later, OP opened the door again but this time there was no toilet and no child!

The Redditor explained that the incident happened on different occasions in separate rooms. The ironic part about it all was that neither of them believe in ghosts!

Sister Channels Sibling’s Proposal

Someone else shared their scary story revealing how they turned to the other person who was in the room with them and told them that her sister was getting engaged "right now." OP confessed that she barely knew the person she told, and noted how she didn't have any intention of speaking when the words were uttered.

The stranger asked the OP about the reason for the random information, and all she could do was shake her head and admit that she didn't know. A few days later, she discovered that at that very exact moment, her sister had said "yes" to her boyfriend from another country! OP hadn't even known that her sister was dating at the time!

Where Did the Child and the Toilet Go?

The last story came from someone who recalled attending a classmate's house party. When OP opened a door they saw a child sitting on the toilet and thought, "That was awkward." OP stood there for some time before hanging out with other classmates.

Upon opening the door later, instead of the child and the toilet, he found a room filled with washing machines. The Reddit user confessed that they didn't know what they saw that day.
