Alec Baldwin’s Voicemail Calling Daughter a ‘Thoughtless Little Pig’ Goes Viral Again Amid Renewed Family Tension
A past controversy has resurfaced for Alec Baldwin—one that many thought had been long buried. Just days after a quiet Father’s Day post stirred speculation, an infamous voicemail is making headlines once again.
Alec Baldwin is once again facing scrutiny over a voicemail he left for his daughter, Ireland Baldwin, nearly two decades ago — a message that branded her a "rude, thoughtless little pig."

The resurfaced audio clip has reignited public debate, emerging just days after Ireland notably left her father out of a Father's Day tribute on social media. The voicemail, originally made public in 2007 during Baldwin’s bitter custody battle with ex-wife Kim Basinger, features the actor delivering a heated message to his then 11-year-old daughter.
Upset over a missed phone call, Balwin expressed anger and disappointment, telling Ireland she had "insulted [him] for the last time." He continued by criticizing her intelligence and decency, going on to blame Basinger for what he viewed as Ireland's disrespectful behavior.

Baldwin, then embroiled in a highly public divorce, vented his frustration further in the message, saying he felt "humiliated" due to her failure to answer his call.
Channeling the intensity of his on-screen personas, the actor threatened to fly out and confront his daughter, vowing to "straighten [her] out" and reiterating his belief that she was "a rude little pig."
This week, the message began circulating once more online, prompted by a recent post from Ireland in which she honored her partner RAC and his father for Father's Day, while omitting any mention of the actor.
The silence caught attention, with some interpreting it as a pointed exclusion. Online reactions to the voicemail’s resurgence have been swift and varied.

One commenter stated, "Doesn't matter if it was the 90's, 00’' or today, you cannot speak to your daughter like that. Period!" Another added, "Why would you embarrass his daughter like that? Enough that she already had to hear it from him."
Others expressed personal disbelief, with one user noting, "My father has NEVER spoken to me like this!" Yet not all the responses were critical. Some defended the family’s evolution over the years. "They have moved on from this and have an amazing relationship these days ❤️," read one message.

When the voicemail first made headlines in April 2007, Baldwin responded publicly with a statement on his website. He explained that the outburst stemmed from what he described as years of being estranged from his daughter, a situation he attributed to parental alienation.
At the time, Baldwin expressed regret, saying he had been pushed to his limit and apologized for losing his temper, noting that only those who had experienced such circumstances could truly understand his frustration.

He also referenced the prolonged custody battle with ex-wife Basinger, stating he had endured considerable emotional strain over the years. Baldwin asserted that those familiar with his private life were aware that certain individuals had gone to great lengths to damage his relationship with Ireland and tarnish his image.
A year later, in 2008, Baldwin expanded on these personal struggles in his book, "A Promise to Ourselves: A Journey Through Fatherhood and Divorce," where he further explored the complexities of parenting amid legal disputes.

Now a father of eight, Baldwin shares seven children with his wife Hilaria: daughters Carmen, Maria, and Ilaria, and sons Rafael, Leonardo, Romeo, and Eduardo. In May 2023, he faced criticism after referring to his younger children as his seven reasons to carry on during some tough times.
Following backlash over the apparent omission of Ireland, he amended the comment, lightheartedly acknowledging his eldest by saying she was the first one and joking that she was about to make him a grandfather.
Despite past tensions, Baldwin and Ireland — who welcomed her daughter Holland in May 2023 — have occasionally appeared in public together in recent years. Speaking on the "Our Way with Paul Anka and Skip Bronson" podcast in May 2024, Baldwin reflected on his blended family.
He shared that his eldest daughter now lives in Oregon with her partner and child, while he and Hilaria had seven children in nine years, a pace he described as crazy.
Long before the resurfaced voicemail drew attention, Baldwin was involved in another high-profile family-related incident. In October 1995, he was placed under citizen’s arrest after allegedly punching a freelance cameraman outside his Los Angeles home.
Baldwin and then-wife Basinger had just returned with their newborn daughter, Ireland, from the hospital when they spotted photographer Alan Zanger filming from across the street. According to LAPD Lt. Ray Lombardo, Baldwin told Zanger he didn’t mind being filmed but asked him not to record the baby.

An argument followed, during which Zanger claimed Baldwin struck him in the nose. The photographer then placed Baldwin under citizen’s arrest for alleged misdemeanor battery.
Police booked Baldwin at the LAPD's West Valley station before releasing him on his own recognizance — a routine step when the suspect is not being actively sought. The incident highlighted Baldwin’s long-standing sensitivity to media intrusion into his family life.
