Carson had previously announced in December 2017 that she was dropping out of the DWTS: Live! Light Up the Night tour to deal with a personal family matter. At the time she’d revealed that her father-in-law been dealing with pancreatic cancer for the last year and a half.
In her Instagram post at the time, the star had shared that a few days before; her father-in-law had been having stomach issues and was unable to keep anything down. Doctors had decided to do an exploratory surgery to find the problem, which they’d thought to be a minor issue.
But unfortunately, it had been cancer that had spread throughout his entire abdomen. Doctors explained at the time of the diagnosis that there was nothing that they could do.
They told the star and his family that they only had a few weeks with him before cancer took his life. After much heartache and discussion, her husband’s father decided to fight it and try another aggressive chemotherapy treatment.
Due to the diagnosis, Carson told her fans that she wouldn’t be taking part in the DWTS tour that winter. She hoped that her fans understand that her place was with her family.
The star shared that she needed to focus on her family and especially her husband. She wished her dance partner, Frankie Muniz, and the whole tour an amazing run.
Carson ended her post by declaring her love for her fans and letting them know that she was devastated that she couldn't be there. But she had promised them at the time that her heart was with them.
