Woman finds her brother after 60 years and he's now one of the world's richest men
A woman in Scotland received a message she had least expected.
Shared reported that 83-year-old Ida Wilde was reunited with her long-lost brother after she shared a photo of herself on Facebook.
All she had in mind when she posted a photo of herself on the social networking site were a few likes and comments.
Instead, it elicited a response from a multimillionaire.
In the photo, Wilde was holding a bouquet of flowers at a wedding. She received a message from a man named Asgar Patel.
He asked her if she was Ida Moreland, her maiden name.
It may sound unbelievable, but the pair shares a surprising connection that goes back more than 60 years.
Patel and Wilde met for the first time when he was only six years old.
When his country, India, was going through a turbulent time in its history, Patel’s father had sent him and his siblings to Scotland. He did not want his children to witness the chaotic situation just after the Partition of India in 1947.
The family from India boarded with Wilde’s family. They became so close to each other that they called themselves her adopted siblings.
Five years later, Patel moved back to India as a teenager but kept in touch by mail for a few years.
They lost contact after her parents moved. Patel spent “years” trying to find them again.
The most surprising part for Wilde was not the way he noticed her on Facebook, but the fact that Patel is one of the wealthiest men in India.
With a massive group of logistics and transportation business, called the House of Patel, he is a millionaire. One website estimates he is worth $615 million.
Patel took time off his work to meet Wilde at her home and they reminisced about old times. She was surprised by how much he remembered about their family years.
Wilde said, “He asked if I remembered us all going to Ayr on holiday and away to Tighnabruaich. It was like we’d never been apart.”
The two did not find it strange or awkward as they chatted away like two old friends happy to have finally found each other.
Wilde added that she was incredibly proud of everything Patel had accomplished. She had said goodbye to a little boy and he had returned a hugely successful multi-millionaire.
Patel said that stumbling across his sister’s photo was a “miracle” and that they will not be strangers again. The businessman invited Wilde to visit him in Dubai.
Wilde considers him part of the family and promises to keep in touch. The two are just happy to have found each other again after so many years apart.
