Water is one of the most easily available resources around the world. It also has many health benefits.

The human body needs to stay hydrated as about 75% of our body weight is made up of water, Providr reports. As it is low in sodium and caffeine-free, like other fluids such as coffee, it is the perfect resource required to keep your body hydrated.

Drinking water first thing after one wakes up in the morning has many health advantages, some of which are presented below:

1. Convenience

In the mornings, the stomach is completely empty and a glass of water will not hinder the digestion process. Many people drink water during the meals, which has its own shares of negatives as it can dilute digestive juices and upset stomach.

2. Reduce stomach acidity

Our stomach produces hydrochloric acid to burn and digest the food. During the mornings, our stomach is empty, so it is more likely to occur heartburn because of overproduction of the acid than what is really required.

Drinking water first thing in the morning will relieve your heartburn as it will reduce the level of acidity in your stomach.

3. Helps relieve bowel movements

Drinking a warm glass of water immediately after you wake up can help you with constipation and relieve your bowel movements. Generally, any issues with bowel movements are due to the lack of water in our bodies.

4. Controlling the calories

Water helps to control the number of calories you consume and even supports in weight loss. Drinking water along with the meal may even actually make you seem fuller and help you eat less.

5. Keeps the skin looking fresh

Human skin has a lot of water and requires to stay hydrated to look fresh. Water also acts as a protective barrier to prevent fluid loss.

6. Energize muscles

When the cells of the body get the proper balance of fluids and electrolytes will lose its freshness. This will lead to severe muscle fatigue. One must drink around 17 ounces of water two hours before exercising to reduce such fatigue.
