Sean Penn’s son is arrested for possession of prohibited substance after leaving rehab

AmoMama learns that Sean Penn's son Hopper and his girlfriend were reportedly arrested for possession of 'marijuana, mushrooms and prescription pills.' From a report by the Daily Mail, Penn was angry with his son.

Sean Penn and Robin Wright's son Hopper, 24, and his girlfriend Uma Von Wittkamp were arrested for drug possession. The two were reportedly stopped by police in Nebraska on Wednesday for failing to signal, after which the authorities suspected drug activity and took action. Police told TMZ that they found 14 grams of marijuana, four amphetamine pills and three grams of mushrooms. Out of the stash, Hopper’s share was the mushrooms and less than an ounce of marijuana while Wittkamp, who was behind the wheel at the time of the arrest, was responsible for the amphetamines, as well as the mushrooms.

Last year, Hopper admitted to struggling with drugs and even said he would have died were it not for his dad’s tough-love approach. He admitted to having started using at the tender age of 14, which was almost right after his parents divorced.

'I was doing a lot of stuff but meth was the main one that brought me down. I went to rehab because I woke up in hospital and my dad said, "Rehab? Or bus bench?" I was like, "I’ll take the bed.” Thank God I got out of that because that was the worst time in my life. Because it’s not fun when it gets to a point where you just need it.'

Penn and Wright have a daughter too, Dylan, 26. During Penn’s recent tour to promote his book, Bob Honey Who Just Do Stuff: A Novel, he talked about tension between him and his ex-wife over their parenting skills. 'We don't have a lot of conversation. We don't get along. We have very separate relationships with our kids at this point and it's better that way because they are making their own decisions. As it turned out she and I did not share the same ethical views on parenting, including the continuing parenting of adult children.'

Penn went on to say that he was a hands-on parent and involved in his kids’ lives even at their age. They were working as actors and models, he said, and he was supportive of what they did and had become.
