He is often known as one of the strictest celebrity judges. But Simon Cowell surprised by showing a kind gesture.

Simon Cowell volunteered to pay about $240,000 for a pioneering back surgery of one of the participants on Britain's Got Talent, Julia Carlile.

According to Liftable, Carlile had always wanted to become a professional dancer, but being born with scoliosis, her spine continued to curve as she got older. This hurt her chances of being able to dance for the long term.

Her condition had worsened to the point that her spine had begun crushing her lungs. As a result, Carlile suffered from extreme back pain. But she fought through it and trained hard to keep dancing.

She formed a dance team, Mersey Girls, along with her friends, and made it to Britain's Got Talent. Before their performance, it was revealed that she was in 'desperate need' of surgery to correct her spine.

But the surgery covered by her insurance would not help her recover completely. She would not be able to dance following the treatment.

However, if she were to continue her passion and follow her dreams of becoming a professional dancer, she required a 'pioneering surgery' available in the U.S., which would make her back flexible again.

Carlile revealed that she had to win the show to collect the prize so that she could do her much required surgery and keep her dreams of dancing alive.

After the girls finished their dance routine, and judge Alesha Dixon sent them straight to the finals by pressing the golden buzzer, Simon Cowell made a surprising and heartfelt move.

He joined the girls backstage to congratulate them and made the announcement that he wanted to pay the expenses required for Carlile's surgery.

Due to Cowell's generous gesture, Carlile could fly to the U.S. for her surgery. The source informed that she has since been in recovery and is now looking forward to getting back on the dance floor as soon as possible.
