Couple find buried box in the woods. They look closer and see quotes from the Bible

It was the first time she had joined her boyfriend on a hike, and she was in for an amazing surprise on the way.

Ryan Parsons had always loved to look for things in the woods with his metal detector. It was one of his favorite hobbies, and one day he convinced his girlfriend Lisa to join him.

As reported by Shared, the couple from West Virginia went for a hike near their home one day in 2017, and Parsons decided to take a camera with to video record their adventure.

First, the metal detector picked up on a strange metal button, which they determined ti be from the 1800's. Excited to see what else was nearby, Parsons handed Lisa the camera to record while he started to dig.

He pulled up a suspicious looking rock, under which he eventually found an antique wooden box. Parsons started to pry open the box, while Lisa warned him to be cautious.

Inside, they discovered a pair of Bible verses written on old parchment in code. Luckily Parsons, a pastor, had his Bible close at hand to decode the verses.

On the first parchment was Matthew 13:44: The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

But the next verse got Lisa very emotional.

Proverbs 18:22: He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.

It turned out that the boxes were not there by accident, but had actually been planted there by Parsons as a surprise proposal for Lisa.

Parsons had bought the box from an antique store in town. He had also hidden a special ring inside the box: a diamond from Lisa's grandmother in a new white gold setting.

Naturally, there was no way that Lisa could refuse the wonderful proposal, and the pair are now happily married.
