Hero mom saves her family after being shot twice
A mother-of-two bravely fought two intruders proving that there is nothing stronger than a mother’s love.
Daily Mail reported that Semantha Bunce was feeding her four-month-old son when two people armed with guns broke into her house in November 2015.
Semantha and her husband, Paul, live with their two children in east Charlotte, North Carolina.
It was just like any other day for the family. Paul was at work and their older daughter was at school. Semantha was with her son, Bentley, when she heard a strange sound that startled her
A couple of home invaders broke into her house with guns. Unfortunately for them, they had no idea what they were getting themselves into.
The 24-year-old Semantha was a National Guard combat medic who put her training to use when it mattered the most.
She quickly ran upstairs to her bedroom with her son and placed him in the crib. She then grabbed her husband’s gun and was ready to fight the intruders.
The men opened fire at her and she fired back from the bedroom door. In the ensuing moments, Semantha was shot twice but was successful in getting them away.
She was then rushed to the hospital to treat her wounds.
Paul, a medical technician, felt that it was probably a shock to the intruders. His wife had remained calm during the fight and it was her military training that helped her at the time.
Semantha’s friend, Hollie Ritchie, started a GoFundMe page to help her former colleague with her medical expenses.
Ritchie wrote, ‘She is an amazing person, mother, wife, friend and soldier. Would do anything for anyone and would quite literally give you the shirt off her back if you needed it.’
She was able to raise almost $30,000 in donations in just four days against the goal of $15,000.
Semantha was treated at Carolinas Medical Center and made it through the surgery. She was ecstatic to be reunited with her husband and her adorable children.
