Shy 11-year-old completely transforms when she steps out on stage to sing

She kind of looks like she’s attempting for a reboot of Matilda, but wait until you hear this 11-year-old girl sing.

Mara Justine Platt, from Galloway Township, New Jersey, United States, launched her career in 2014 as an 11-year old contestant on NBC’s 9th season of America’s Got Talent.

Her captivating version of And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going by Jennifer Hudson was one of her most memorable performances.

She garnered a standing ovation from all four judges, Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel, as soon as she finished the song.

Heidi commended her stellar performance, saying she’s “absolutely incredible.”

"What I loved was that when you came on to the stage, you seemed like such a humble girl. All of a sudden, when the music started and you started singing, you just turned into this other person. It was incredible," said the 44-year-old model.

Howard, Mel, and Howie joined Heidi in voting to send Mara Justine to Judgment Week. Unfortunately, she was eliminated in the top 12 Final round despite giving a solid performance.

The rising star is now 16 years old and is currently competing on ABC's American Idol 2018.

Trained under the voice coach Sal Dupree, Mara Justine has a powerful and soulful voice that consistently astounds the public.

In an interview with NBC 40, Sal said: "She had something different. She has a very dark, deep voice for someone her age and she has an inner soul that most kids don’t have."

Linda Platt, Mara Justine's mother, always knew her daughter was something special.

"From when she was little I would laugh because she would dance and sing, you know, not like an ordinary kid. When I see her with all that confidence I feel like she would just, she’ll go for the stars, she’ll go for anything," she told NBC 40.

Born on February 28, 2002, Mara Justine released her self-titled debut album named Mara Justine in 2015.
