Chip Gaines hints at return to reality TV in ambiguous answer to curious fan

'Fixer Upper' fans are excited by the idea that the Gaines may be returning in the near future

The popular reality show 'Fixer Upper' debuted on HGTV in May 2013, and ran for 5 seasons. The focus was on Chip and Joanna Gaines, a couple whose specialty was flipping houses.

At the end of the 5th season, HGTV broke the news that 'Fixer Upper' would not be renewed despite the popularity of the show and its good ratings, but it seems some fans are not taking the news lying down, reported Closer Weekly.

On Wednesday, May 23, a fan of the show posted an idea for a new format for the series on Twitter. The idea would have the couple surprise young adults by fixing up their college rental.

The name for the show would be 'Renter Upper', the fan suggested. The fan tagged the reality stars and they responded.

"We’re entrepreneurs at heart, so we’ll always be looking forward to what’s next. As it relates to TV, you just never know."

Chip Gaines, who is famous for his zany tongue-in-cheek humor immediately replied to the suggestion with a gleeful "Hummm... #MeLike." His answer set off a wave of speculation among the fans that the Gaines might consider a come-back.

Joanna Gaines had already confided that she and Chip hadn't excluded the possibility of returning to TV with a new format.

Joanna is pregnant, and expecting her 5th baby in a few months, so the return to the show will not be anytime soon.

The couple had explained that as their children grew and needed more of their attention, it was getting harder to reconcile their work with the needs of their family.

The Gaines already have 4 children: Duke, Emmies, Drake, and Ella Rose. Part of what made 'Fixer Upper' so fascinating to watch, apart from Joanna's exquisite talent for decor, was the chemistry between the couple.

It's this wonderful relationship that makes this duo so likable and keeps fans hoping they will return to their TV screens very soon.
