Father throws his baby daughter off a roof during stand-off with police

The incident took place after the tense dissolution of a protest by 150 people who tried to stop their illegal living places, and this man almost killed his one-year-old daughter in his standoff with local police.

Breathtaking footage of the moment the 38-year-old man threw his baby daughter off the roof of a shack in Kwadwesi, South Africa, emerged, horrifying internet users worldwide, as Metro reported.

In the video, the father can be seen holding his daughter over the side of the shack before dropping him as a negotiator from the South African Police Service failed to calm him down in order to put the child out of danger.

According to Unilad, the other protestors watching the exchange between the officers and the deranged father reportedly encouraged the man to drop the child by shouting ‘throw’ repeatedly.

‘Due to the dangerous threat to the safety of the child police set out a plan to rescue the little girl and arrest the male and one of our officers successfully caught the girl as she was flung’ Captain Andre Beetge declared, reported RNews:

The police had been sent to the site of the incident to provide protection for the team under authorities orders to demolish an informal settlement comprised of 90 shacks, and they clashed with rioters

The inhabitants of the illegally built settlement threw bricks, closed off roads and burned tires to prevent the demolition of their makeshift homes until the police managed to restore calm.

As a desperate measure, the father of the child climbed to the roof of his shack threatening to drop the baby to her death if the demolition team kept approaching his home.

At the man’s negative to handle the little girl out, the police proceeded with a plan to recover the girl safely and arrest the father. The officers on the ground got ready to catch the child if she was dropped.

Thanks to the officer's attention they managed to save the girl from the potentially fatal fall. As soon as the child was out of danger, her father was seized and arrested.
