Famous designer Kate Spade's cause of death officially revealed
After much speculation, Kate Spade's death has been officially confirmed as suicide by hanging by a medical examiner.
The famous designer, and responsible for Kate Spade New York, one of the most prestigious brands in the fashion world, was found dead in her Manhattan apartment on Tuesday, June 5, 2018.
The 55-year-old was found by a housekeeper hanging from a door with a scarf wrapped around her neck, and the official confirmation was made to People by an unidentified spokesperson for New York's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Born Katherine Noel Brosnahan, the designer spent quite some time battling with her inner demons. According to her husband, Andy Spade, brother of actor and comedian David Spade, Kate suffered from depression and anxiety.

She was described as a happy, generous and beautiful person, and to Andy, she was more than just his wife of 35 years: she was his best friend. Her family was shocked to learn of her passing, especially her daughter.
At the age of 13, Frances Beatrix has been forced to deal with the fact that her mother took her own life, and is currently heartbroken. She has been the most affected by Kate's death.
Andy revealed that he and Kate had been having marital problems for a while, which led them to live separately for the past 10 months. Still, they were determined to make Beatrix a priority.
The grieving husband helped Kate create Kate Spade New York in 1993, designing colorful handbags and later expanding the business to other accessories and clothing pieces.
In 2006, she sold her share of the company to Tapestry, Inc. for $2.4 billion, arguing that she needed to take a break from the fashion world. She eventually went back to action in 2016, when she started Frances Valentine, her accessories line.
