Remember Shanice from 'Boyz N Da Hood'? She shared photos with her grown-up daughter

It has been over 26 years since Alysia Rogers stole hearts with her role as Shanice in the iconic film “Boyz N Da Hood,” but it seems like time has not passed for her. The former actress shared photos with her only daughter, and they look like twins.

Alysia Rogers started acting since she was in high school, taking starring roles in local plays and short documentaries. Then, she was cast for the role of Damita in “Class Act,” and later, her performance as the leading female role in “Boyz N Da Hood” opposite Morris Chestnut, earned her a lot of attention.

However, just when her career was about to start, she got pregnant and decided to retire from the industry in order to take proper care of her daughter. The girl is now a college graduate, and even though Alysia is 42-years-old, they could pass as twins.

Years after taking a break from the spotlight, Rogers made a brief return to the screens, appearing on the movie “Beyond Merritt,” which was based on the true story of Lynda Merritt, a single mother of four that struggles with drug addiction.

Speaking to News Blaze about why she accepted the role, Alysia said:

“I was a single mother shortly after my last film and devoted all of me to figuring out this motherhood thing and trying to be the best mom I could be because she was my world. Now she’s a wonderful young college student and I feel it’s time to finish what I started years ago.”

And added:

“Lynda Merritt’s life resonated with me because she is a strong woman who has overcome so much adversity. She is one of my heroes. What really made me interested in doing the film is that the script was very well-written and the role was very challenging. The film’s message is to never lose hope. No matter what goes on in your life, you can break free and move forward.”

Cieana Stinson was a very notable volleyball player in her time at California State University, Northridge, and since her mom doesn’t like to share many details about their personal lives, the girl seems to have a pretty normal life.

The identity of Ciena's father is unknown, but thanks to photos that Alysia shared from the girls’ graduation day on Facebook, we can totally see from when she got her strong jaw and sharp eyes.

We’re glad to know that despite choosing a life away from the spotlight, Alysia is doing well and is the mother of such a beautiful and smart young woman.
