Rapper Kurupt accused of leaving ex-wife following her terminal cancer diagnosis
Kurupt's wife Gail Gotti claims her ex-husband left her with absolutely no support after she was diagnosed with blood cancer.
Last year, Jovan Brown, or known as Gail Gotti, filed for divorce from her husband Kurupt. Prior to their divorce, Gail claims that her husband had already abandoned her when he found out she was diagnosed with cancer.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, she is asking her husband to pay for spousal support. However, since being diagnosed with her terminal illness, Kurupt has refused to pay for any of her medical bills or living expenses.
“Our separation definitely hurt, as I could not understand how after 17 years he abruptly left me in my time of need when I needed his support and love the most. Before [Kururpt] left out relationship, I was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Although I earned a salary prior to separation and [he] knew I needed the money, when I asked [him] to assist me with my treatment, he responded ‘go get a regular job’ and I should ‘get a boyfriend to help me pay for my treatments."
While the couple was together for almost two decades, Gail shares how she stuck with her husband through it all, even when he did not have a penny to his name. When they first started dating, her ex-husband lived in one of the houses his mother rented, and neither of them had a car. They struggled for years to get on their feet, and when they finally got their own businesss running, she was handling the technical business matters.
After their long relationship, the two married in 2010. While her cancer treatment might have been one of the reasons he left her, it was also reported that her husband revealed that he had a new life with another woman, and he wants to focus on providing for that particular family instead.
Gotti is seeking for $14,000 a month for spousal support, and $40,000 for attorney's fees. She is also asking for 50% stake of ownership in the companies she owns.
