Michelle Obama shares vintage photo of father at work along with a moving message
The former First Lady took to social media with a special message for her father in honor of Father's Day, and shared the important values he taught her growing up.
Michelle Obama has always been a woman who has a way with words, and often shares wonderful messages for the most important people in her life via her social media accounts.
On Father's Day, Obama took to Instagram to share one such message for her own late father, Fraser Robinson, thanking him for turning her into the woman she has become.
The image she chose was an old one of Robinson hard at work. He was a pump operator at the Chicago Water Department.
She captioned the image: "My father, Fraser Robinson, taught me to work hard, laugh often, and keep my word. Every day, I see @barackobama instilling those same values in our girls. #HappyFathersDay to dads everywhere who shape who we are - and who will always live on in our hearts."
Obama's father sadly passed away in 1991, before she married Barack Obama and became the First Lady of the United States. He had suffered from multiple sclerosis for many years by the time of his death.
Certainly, it seems that Robinson's values and the example he set for his daughter has had a profound influence on her life, and she still remembers where she learnt everything she knows almost three decades after his death.
