Debra Messing is joining forces with the department store company TJ Maxx for a project that hopes to encourage women to embrace their individuality, and she attended a promotional event looking fabulous in a patterned dress.

The 49-year-old actress is using her time off from the reboot of her popular sitcom Will & Grace, which NBC just renewed for a second and third seasons, to support an altruistic cause, as Daily Mail reported.

Messing was spotted arriving at a press call in New York to promote the initiative called ‘The Maxx You Project’ on June 19, and she delighted everybody at the event with her beautiful outfit and general appearance.

The star wore a patterned knee-length sleeveless dress with halter neck, adding a pair of wedge sandals for a fresh summer look. Messing wore her signature red hair down styled in wild curls.

The retail store has launched the women’s empowerment campaign last year, and they are working on expanding the program with the celebrity support of Messing, who has struggled with the TV industry in the past because of her figure.

'I'm really lucky to have so many women in my life who live as their true, authentic selves. From pursuing my career to starting a family, I've looked to those inspiring women as part of my own community,’ Messing said on a press release.

'They didn't get to where they are alone, and neither have I. I want to pass it on,' explained the actress.

The project includes hosting workshops during the summer in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and New York City, and it is also establishing a Facebook group to connect women, with Messing joining the conversation in the social network.

Messing recently shared that she had to face the pressures of the entertainment industry unrealistic beauty standards many times because of her small chest.

She revealed in a televised conversation with fellow actress Sharon Stone that she was asked to wear fake boobs at the start of her career, something that she refused.
