Although Pantera had not been active since 2003, it remains to be one of the most influential bands in the history of American heavy metal music.

Abbott founded Pantera in the early-'80s with Darrell Abbott. The band made its mark in 1990 and won accolades for their album Cowboys from Hell

The band shocked the entire music industry when their album Far Beyond Driven debuted at #1 in 1994. Darrell was murdered during a concert in Columbus, as reported by iHeart Radio
