Roseanne' star 'so excited' after spin-off series announced
Sara Gilbert is one of the five original cast members returning for the spin-off series.
Sara Gilbert, who starred as Darlene Conner in the popular sitcom Roseanne, and its revival season, is eagerly awaiting to be with working with the cast again.
She was on The Talk on CBS on June 25, 2018, to address the news about the upcoming spin-off series. Gilbert said that she was excited about the story and thankful to all the audience for their response.
The Roseanne revival was canceled after its successful first season. The network decided to do so after the title star; actress Roseanne Barr tweeted a racist comment about former Obama aide, Valerie Jarrett.
The show was canceled by ABC network within hours of the tweet, after tremendous social media uproar.

ABC announced on June 21, 2018, that they would be airing a spinoff series about the family, without Roseanne in it. The network confirmed a 10-episode series. Read more about the Roseanne spin-off on our Twitter account @amomama_usa.
This show is temporarily being called The Conners, after the Conner family, around whom the sitcom revolved. Former cast members John Goodman, Lecy Goranson, Michael Fishman, and Laurie Metcalf were also confirmed for this spin-off.

The spin-off will reportedly start with a 'sudden turn of events,' which will explain the absence of Roseanne from the family’s plotline, and continue with the rest of the Conner family instead.
As of now, no further explanation of this plotline has been provided.

Rosanne Barr has been known to be very active on Twitter, where she has promoted controversial tweets and conspiracy theories previously. She was asked by ABC to stay off social media, but to no avail, according to ET Online.

After the announcement by ABC, Barr released a statement saying that she has regretted the circumstances that caused the cancellation and her firing.
Barr added that she came to an agreement with ABC to save the jobs of over 200 cast and crew who would otherwise lose their job.
