The 50-years-old actress is looking better than ever and is all thanks to her intense fitness training. Mo’Nique made the conscious decision to lose weight, not for aesthetic reasons, but because she wants to live enough to meet her grandchildren.
Even though she had her break thanks to the series “The Parkers,” Mo’Nique is better known to many people for her unforgettable role in “Precious.” These days, the actress has become an inspiration for people who want to lose weight and focus on their health, and she’s doing amazing.
After being overweight for most of her adult life, Mo’Nique realized she had to make some changes in her life after a specific occasion when her husband, Sidney Hicks, asked her weight.
“When my husband asked me my weight, I answered, and he said “…That’s too much weight. I want you around for a lifetime, and that’s not healthy,” she explained. “It was at that moment that I went through guilt, I went through shame, because of my size. Because I never felt love like that before.”
"I think that the journey I have to take now is that I have babies. I have a son who is 23, but I also have a son who is nine. And we have twins who are seven. I want to meet their children. I want to be able to play with their children. I don’t want to be a burden on my family due to self-neglect….I was fortunate to watch my grandmother play with my children. I want to be in the same position."
Since 2014, Mo’Nique started a journey to lead a healthy life, and she has been sharing her tips, work out routines and even meals with fans to inspire more people. The results are now on sight, as the actress is looking youthful and glowing these days.
In one of her recent Instagram posts, Mo’Nique flaunted her curves and toned legs in a body-hugging tight black dress with an orange-and-yellow pattern design on the front. She completed the look with black heels and minimal jewelry as she tied her raven lock in a tight bun.
“Don't be afraid of pushing yourself past your limits. It pays off. Sisters, it is possible. Love, love, love Y'all,” she wrote on her caption.
Last March, the mother of four reached a huge milestone in her weight loss journey, and she shared an emotional video with her followers to celebrate and to let them know that hard work does pay off.
For the first time in over 33 years, she’s under 200 lbs.
“Today was the first time in my adult life that I’ve been under 200 lbs. So I wanted to let y’all know it’s possible, we can do it, and we can get there,” she said and clarified that is all thanks to her hard work, without any cheat methods.
“No surgery, no prepackaged foods, not listening to spokespeople saying “It’s easy. You can do it.” You can eat and still drop this weight. It’s called raw food. It’s called dancing your pounds off. It’s called giving yourself a chance to live the best life you can live.”
Mo’Nique created a YouTube channel to share her exercise routines with followers, and she’s always laying out a new challenge for them to encourage and inspire their journey. But she also makes sure to spread positivity and love. In one of her recent posts, she wrote a beautiful message saying:
“In the midst of what may appear to be a storm. Keeping pushing for the sun. It always comes out. I love y’all for real.”
We’re glad to know that Mo’Nique is not only looking good but also feeling confident about herself. We hope her journey can inspire many others too.
