The cat was adopted by a teenager 6 months before leaving to serve in the U.S. Navy. The cat's love and longing for its master is clear from the way it looks at a portrait of the youngster.

A teenage boy from Ohio named Max Nimrichter enlisted in the U.S. Navy and soon found out that he would have to travel away from home to bootcamp in six months.

Max was thrilled about joining the service, however, he was also concerned about his mother, Erin Nimrichter, would be living alone at home once he left.

Worried about her safety and loneliness, Max adopted a black cat named Yuuki from the Cleveland Animal Protective League, who he thought would be a great companion to Erin.

According to The Dodo, before Yuuki was brought to Max's home, she had lived a lonely life for over a year at the shelter. It did not take long for Max and Yuuki to bond, making Yuuki a part of his family.

With Max off in boot camp, Erin has shared a video of how Yuuki still misses Max. In the video, Yuuki can be seen staring at the photo of Max on their mantelpiece. The loving pet has also been taking her naps in front of the picture.

Erin has tried replacing the photo with something else, to see she is really looking for Max or just attracted by the shiny frame. But her insistence to find the photo every time has been astounding.

Speaking about the emotions captured in the cat video, Erin Nimrichter explained the sweet and loving relationship that blossomed between her son and Yuuki.

According to Erin, Max has felt some sort of a connection with animals his whole life. His bonding with Yuuki was effortless and was proof of the affection he had for animals and how they reciprocated the same feelings towards him.

Having only spent 6 months together, the closeness of 19-year-old Max and the young Yuuki was almost incredible.

Before Max was shipped off, he and Yuuki would be together at all times and would even go to sleep cuddling each other.

Yuuki, like other pets, did not understand the changing circumstances of everyday human life. This explained why despite Max having left home, Yuuki had been waiting for him to come back and snuggle with her.

Over the course of time, Yuuki has seemingly come to terms with Max's long absence. However, that does not stop her from hoping for his return as she spends time with his photo.
