'DWTS' star engaged to his high school sweetheart
James Hinchcliffe, a race car driver who was once a runner-up on Dancing with the Stars is engaged to his high school sweetheart. On Monday he posted on social media announcing the engagement.
His Instagram post showed him with his fiancée Becky Dalton. The caption of the post was filled with humor as the pair pretended to look shocked for the camera.
James Hinchcliffe, 31, revealed that he finally proposed to his high school sweetheart, Becky Dalton, 29. The IndyCar driver from Ontario posted a photo of his fiancée wearing her new ring.
Dalton posted the same image and captioned it with a silly message of her own saying, ‘Just got served a life sentence.’ The proposal happened on July 16, at Six Mile Lake in Muskoka, Ontario.

His parents, Arlene and Jeremy, as well as the jewelers, were the only people who knew the proposal was happening. The race driver revealed that after the Honda Indy Toronto he and Dalton headed to their cottage in Muskoka.

There he had planned to ask her to go on a booze cruise after dinner. After they made dinner, he ran over to his parents’ cottage under the pretext that he was grabbing the boat keys.
However, he was actually getting the ring and some champagne. He hid them on the boat, and when they got to a point where they were just enjoying the moment, he got up and grabbed the ring from the glovebox.
Hinchcliffe got on one knee and asked Dalton to marry him. "Somewhere amongst the ugly cries there was a yes and there you have it!" he added.
Back at their cottage, his parents had When a man loves a woman playing with candles lit around the cottage. Dalton was shocked and never saw it coming.
She thought he was ruining their moment on the lake when he suddenly got up. The actress confessed that she thought he was going to start the boat back up.
Last summer, Hinchcliffe went to Entertainment Tonight's Los Angeles studio for a Facebook Live interview. The interview was for him to reflect on his time on season 23 of Dancing with the Stars.
At one point during the chat, he couldn't help himself from gushing over Dalton. He even teased that an engagement was "on the horizon."
According to The New York Post in 2016, Dalton met Hinchcliffe through an acting class and they attended his prom together. They spent 12 years without seeing each other after the race driver graduated.
More than a decade later, the pair reconnected when Dalton reached out after Hinchcliffe had a life-threatening race car crash.
