23-year-old Brazilian woman taught armed mugger a brutal lesson
The victim, named Lorrana Braga, decided to fight back since she believed that the weapon was false and looked like a toy. The incident was caught on video.
According to Globo, the police consider that Braga’s actions were misguided because she could have been wrong and, as they put it: ‘no object is worth a life, so it's better to give up and not react.’
The video, which was taken on Wednesday, July 18, shows the student walking along a residential road in Recanto das Emas in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil when a car passes by and stops around the corner.
It is believed that the alleged gunman jumped from the white Renault Sandero that was parked in the corner. Read more on our Twitter account @amomama_usa
The security cameras show that seconds later a man appears and runs towards the student with his hand on his waist demanding that she hand over the phone.

‘Everything happened so fast, and I was not thinking clearly. But I just did not want to give away my cell phone. I told him I was not going to give it to him because it was the second time I was robbed,’ Braga said.
‘He grabbed my hand and started to pull my hair. He pointed the gun at me and told me he was going to shoot me,’ she added.
The woman shared that the threat came in the middle of the fight, but the moment she saw the weapon, she remembered thinking it was ‘super thin.’
‘It looked like a plastic toy and instantly I thought: “this gun is a toy, it's not real.” I did not want to fight, but on the last occasion I did not react,’ she added.
Braga admitted that she is not an expert on weapons and that she did not for sure know whether the revolver was real or not.
‘I had never been pointed with a real gun before, so I must have reacted instinctively,’ the daring woman said, concluding that while it was a reckless act, it was the right thing to do on the occasion.
