Earlier this year, the 37-year-old socialite and reality television personality, Kim Kardashian West, negotiated for the release of a woman who received a life sentence for a non-violent first-time drug offense.

Kardashian West met with President Donald Trump at the White House in June, and he granted Alice Marie Johnson's commutation of sentence.

In a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Kardashian West admitted that she was naked when the President called her because she was at a nude Steven Klein photoshoot.

She was nervous when the call finally arrived but said she had enough time to put on a robe before answering her phone. Read more on our Twitter account @amomama_usa

"So I’m naked, and my phone rings and I’m all glammed up. I’m like, ‘Get me a robe!’”

Kimmel wanted to know if President Trump knew she was only wearing a robe and joked that he might have released every inmate if he had known.

Even though Kardashian was hoping for good news, it still took her by surprise. She immediately called the 63-year-old Johnson at the Alabama Women's Prison.

Kardashian was the first one to break the news to Johnson, who started crying. She added:

"I was at this photo shoot and I’m, like, trying to not cry my makeup off. It was really emotional."

She first saw Johnson's story on Twitter and connected with the single mother of five children who was convicted more than two decades ago.

She was arrested in 1993 and found guilty of eight federal criminal counts related to cocaine trafficking and money laundering, and received no opportunity for parole.

In an interview with Mic, Johnson explained that she lost her job soon after becoming divorced and had filed for bankruptcy two years earlier.

Desperate to provide for her children, she turned to the drug trafficking organization and worked as an intermediary by making calls. She never sold drugs herself.
