Harry Potter fans may be asking themselves what on earth their beloved teen wizard could possibly have in common with Prince William, second in line to the British Throne, and Cosmopolitan has the answer.

Just like the redoubtable Harry, Prince William sports a jagged scar on his forehead.

But while Harry's scar was a result of his being attacked by the evil Voldemort as an infant, the Prince has a different story to tell.

"I call it [my Harry Potter scar] because it glows sometimes and some people notice it—other times they don't notice it at all."

Prince William, Cosmopolitan, 27th of August 2018.

The Prince and the teen wizard have matching scars.

Though the similarities are unquestionable - William calls it his "Harry Potter scar," the Prince didn't acquire it at the hands of an evil sorcerer-

The truth is much more prosaic. The Prince shared that he got his scar when he was 13 years old.

How did the Prince get his scar?

He was playing golf with a friend when he was hit on the head with a seven-iron.

William's scar is once again a hot topic since it was observed that Duchess Kate also has a large three-inch scar hidden in her hairline.

The Duchess also has a scar on her forehead.

Royal family fans were fascinated by the coincident of the happy couple having matching scars on their foreheads, but the Duchess has refused to comment on her scar, but it is but it is presumed to be the result of a mysterious childhood accident or operation.

The Duchess may refuse to speak about her scar, but Prince William seems to be proud of it and showed it off to a tiny patient on a visit to a children's hospital.
