Missy Elliott shocks her 'Funky White Sister' on the 'Ellen Show' with a duet performance
Missy Elliot made a surprise appearance during "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and brought a lot of happiness to Mary Halsey, her biggest fan.
On Thursday, September 13, 2018, Halsey, the famous 'Missy Elliott's Funky White Sister,' appeared as a guest on the show to talk about the viral video that she posted over the summer, in which she sings Elliot's "Work it."
When she was asked to do a live performance of the song, Halsey was shocked to see Elliott appear out of nowhere and join her, a moment that can now be seen on Youtube.
It was a very sweet surprise and Halsey couldn't even believe her eyes when Elliott started rapping alongside her, but she quickly regained her composure. Follow us on our Twitter account @amomama_usa to learn more.
A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE
Throughout the song, the pair could be seen with their arms around each other and having the time of their lives, and the audience was really enjoying the performance.
HOW SHE GOT THE IDEA
But before Halsey grabbed the mic, she had a little chat with Ellen and told her that she had the idea to sing "Work it" for Rhode Island's Goddard Park's karaoke contest.
The competition is held every year, but, even though it was only Halsey's second time performing the song, her history with it went all the way back to 2003, and that she has been calling herself Elliott's 'Funky White Sister' since then.
SURPRISED THE VIDEO'S POPULARITY
Later on, Halsey was presented with a one-of-a-kind t-shirt signed by the famous rapper, as well as a jacket with the words 'Missy's Funky White Sister.'
During an interview, Halsey admitted that she wanted her video to go viral but didn't realize that its popularity would turn out to be so big. But Halsey wasn't the only one who had the chance to sing with her favorite artist.
ANOTHER LUCKY FAN
Back in April, 11-year-old Genesis Nava was invited on stage by Carrie Underwood after the singer noticed her sign, which said 'Can I sing with you?'
The two went on to sing "Good Girl" and Nava, who has also appeared on "America's Got Talent," managed to surprise Underwood with her powerful voice, all while the audience cheered for her.
