A beachside photo of a bride and her bridesmaids flaunting their natural hair is making waves on the internet. In the photo, all eight of them showcase big, windblown hair.

27-year-old bride, Nakyia Whitty learned to embrace her natural roots four years ago so when the time came for her to walk down the aisle, she let her hair down naturally too. And since the bride was going natural, so did her bridesmaids.

Photos of Whitty with her bridesmaids on her wedding day became a hit among internet users who were inspired by her idea. The bride was simply glowing showcasing her God-given tresses surrounded by her bridesmaids who matched her afro look.

The photos were taken on a beach in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic where the wedding took place. They spread like wildfire once they were posted. In an interview with The Huffington Post, Whitty said she thought the reaction was “crazy” and yet beautiful. She told the publication,

“There have been encouraging words, stories of [women] once being afraid to wear their hair out and now they have the courage. It’s beautiful.”

Whitty also said that though she opted to wear her hair naturally just for her own enjoyment and to make a statement, she didn’t realize it would earn such a huge response.

“I knew a statement was being made. I didn’t realize it’d be a public one. But since it has been, I’m glad. I’m glad the stereotypes and negative image on our hair is being exposed. Whoever said our natural hair couldn’t be versatile, classy, or professional? Whoever that was lied.”

Whitty’s wedding photos will go down in history as both beautiful and inspiring. However, a bride and groom from England will have to live with the fact that the photo of their first kiss as husband and wife will be memorable for another reason.

Three years into their marriage, Kevin Kennedy Ryan II shared a photo revealing what actually transpired during him and his wife’s first kiss at their wedding. A cropped shot of the original photo revealed a romantic, tender moment between them. However, Ryan disclosed in a post during their 3rd year anniversary that the photo, when zoomed out, includes a bridesmaid passed out on the floor beneath them. He explains that the bridesmaid, his sister, fainted the moment the judge said, “you may kiss the bride.” What happened next was a commotion wherein the groom and guests rushed to help her.

Ryan said he never framed the photo but due to the popularity it got after he posted it, he said he would display it proudly in his home.

Meanwhile, a woman was so disgusted with her wedding photo, she decided to shed 80 kilograms after. Debbie Dyson said her wedding day was one of the happiest days of her life but also the saddest. Apart from being unable to find the perfect wedding dress that would fit her 26-stone size, she hated how she looked in her photos so she ripped them all up. Ten years later, she’s happier because she cut six sizes and is in great shape.
