Harrowing video shows dog desperately trying to revive his dead friend on the road
A motorist in Quezon City, Philippines, was moved by a scene that many other motorists ignored. Jay-ar Villanueva pulled to the side of the road and filmed two dogs.
One dog was lying dead while its friend tried to revive it. The video shared on Facebook shows how the live dog just wouldn’t leave its friend without trying to wake it up.
Jay-ar Villanueva is a Facebook user who not only cares about human lives but animal lives too. When he came across a dead dog on the side of the road at Riverside Drive in Rizal, he stopped to help.
What caught his eye wasn’t just the dead dog but the black and white Aspin that was trying to revive it. It’s believed that the dead dog was involved in a hit and run.
At one point it even tried to lift her leg up with its mouth. It spent a couple of minutes trying to wake up its companion before reluctantly giving up and walking away along the pavement.
Villanueva said the whole thing “broke my heart.” He added:
“Drivers should be careful not to harm anyone on the road, even dogs. They don't understand the right of way, they don't understand traffic rules like 'stop, look and listen.”
Showing his love for all things living, the Facebook user wrote:
“Some people will say 'oh, it's just a dog', but look at the video. They are like family, like best friends. Life is so important to them as well.”
What doesn’t show in the clip is that Villanueva eventually walked out of his car and moved the body of the dead dog into the bushes. He shared that he felt sorry for both of the dogs as the male was quite upset.
The dog risked its life to try and revive its companion with cars whizzing past as it prodded and poked. In the city of Zhejiang in eastern China, two Huskies got out into traffic and one was struck and killed by a car.
The dead brown dog lay on the floor as the loyal white one stood in traffic trying to nudge and wake it up. Eventually, a woman, the dogs’ owner, walks into traffic and drags the dead dog out of the road.
The white one follows sorrowfully and stays by its side.
