A series of photographs captured in a reportedly illegal zoo in Fier, Albany, denounce the inhumane and unacceptable conditions under which their animals are living. They are been used to alert the authorities.

Caters News Agency released the outraging images, and activists have taken to social media to spread the word about the cruel mistreatment these animals are receiving, asking the Albanian government to take action.

As Daily Mail reported, the private owned Safari Park Zoo is known as “the safari from hell” and among their victims is a severely malnourished and underfed lion that lives in a reduced space.

The abused feline also appears to have an untreated injury in one of its eyes. The snapshots also show other animals living in tight concrete cages. Read more on our Twitter account @amomama_usa

According to the news outlet, a photographer who chose to keep his identity a secret was determined to expose this terrible place with the hope of helping to produce a change.

The images this concerned person caught on camera show how poorly the cages were made, and how unkempt they are. The animals appear surrounded by their own waste and lacking essential things as cover and drinking water.

The photographer assured that several veterinarians have visited the installations and have described them as holding “some of the worst animal welfare conditions they have ever seen.”

“All the animals are kept in tiny, unhygienic concrete cages with no possibility to retreat from the elements or from the prying eyes of visitors to the zoo.”

“It’s thought that over half a million animals are suffering for the industry, however not enough is known about the abuses that are going on – in front of our eyes and behind closed doors,” the anonymous photographer has been quoted saying.

Despite these gruesome images having surfaced only recently, Metro UK reported that international animal welfare organizations have heard of these facilities previously.

Four Paws have been working with the Albanian Ministry of Environment in collaboration with other animal advocates in the country, and have tried to remove the surviving animals from the zoo to take them to sanctuaries.

“The conditions do not even come close to being appropriate, particularly for large wild animals like lions and bears which have very specific environmental and dietary needs,” said Ioana Dungler on behalf of Wild Animals Department.

“Signs of the mental and physical impact of being kept in such abject surroundings can be clearly seen on each of the poor animals at the zoo,” added Dungler.

It is hard to believe that in this day and age, animals are still treated as objects by so many unscrupulous people that profit from them without caring for their wellbeing and submitting them to great suffering.

Circuses have long been responsible for unspeakable crimes against the animals they exploit to entertain humans everywhere, and while many of them have stopped working with animals, we still see cases of animal abuse within them.

Hundreds of horrified spectators witnessed the moment when a tigress collapsed and started to convulse in the middle of a circus show in Magnitogorsk, Russia, and the horrifying incident was caught on video.
