President Donald Trump was in California to visit the towns devastated by the wildfires in the company of State Governor Jerry Brown and Governor-elect Gavin Newsom when an awkward moment saw him misname the town of Paradise, reported Twitter/ CBS News on November 18, 2018.

“I mean, as big as they look on the tube, you don’t really see what’s going on until you come here. And what we saw at Pleasure, what a name right now, but what we just saw, we just left Pleasure...”

TRUMP RENAMES PARADISE AS "PLEASURE"

The President was addressing a crowd and misnamed the town not once but several times. Only after repeated corrections from his audience did the President give the town its proper name: Paradise.

Paradise was evacuated on November 8, and the town has been razed, with the town center completely destroyed and thousands of homes burned to ashes.

“WE’VE GOT TO TAKE CARE OF THE FLOORS, YOU KNOW THE FLOORS OF THE FOREST, VERY IMPORTANT”

Trump attributed the cause of the devastating fires to mismanagement of the State's forests. He added that he had spoken to the President of Finland, Sauli Niinisto, at the Armistice celebrations in Paris. He revealed that the leader of the thickly forested country recommended "raking" as a deterrent.

MISMANAGEMENT OF FORESTS TO BLAME, TRUMP SAID

The President openly accused State authorities of mismanaging the forests and threatened to cut off Federal funding if the situation is not remedied in the near future. The President said he wanted "Great climate, great forests."

CALIFORNIA'S DEADLIEST FIRE

The 2018 wildfires are considered the most devastating in the USA in living memory and 10,500 homes have been destroyed.

Over 80 people have died, and 150,000 Californians have been displaced by the disaster. Authorities have declared that 66% of the fire has been contained, but it is unlikely to be fully extinguished before the end of the month.

Reported changes in the weather will be bringing downpours on the region that may help control the fires, but rescuers and firefighters fear that the deluge will turn the ash to sludge and hinder the search for the 1,000 people still reported missing.

PRESIDENT TRUMP UNDER FIRE OVER THE RAIN

In a separate incident, President Trump has incurred censure over his handling of an umbrella on a rainy day.

The incident occurred as the President was boarding Air Force One carrying an umbrella against the inclement weather.

When he reached the top of the stairs, rather than closing his umbrella, the President simply threw it was away. A Secret Service agent then picked up the umbrella and closed it for him. Social media comments rained in, some openly mocking the President that he "didn't know how to close and umbrella."
