Michelle Obama's book becomes the fastest-selling one of the year
The former First Lady’s book is taking America by storm. Michelle Obama’s new memoir, “Becoming” is the fastest-selling book this 2018, as revealed by Barnes & Noble.
Obama’s book officially hit the bookstores on November 13, 2018, and the sales have reportedly sky-rocketed ever since.
Senior director of merchandising at Barnes & Noble Liz Harwell spoke with the Washington Post, and she noted that “Becoming” is the “must-have book of the holiday season.”
“We knew ‘Becoming’ was going to be one of the biggest books of the year, but it has now officially had the best first week of sales of any book in 2018 and is among the fastest sellers in Barnes & Noble history,” she said.

During its first day, the book sold more than 725,000 copies, as revealed by the Penguin Random House.
The figures that the book has attained with sales came as no surprise to many since the presales of the book were reportedly higher than any other book in the past three years. In fact, two days before the book became available to the public, Amazon already declared it as the no. 1 most-sold book on the site.
Talk show mogul Oprah Winfrey helped give the memoir a proper launching and chose it for her book club. The event was held in Chicago, and with Obama making an appearance, it was a sold-out launch.
In Washington, Obama also showed up at a sold-out event hosted by Valerie Jarett – former senior adviser to President Barack Obama - in the Capital One Arena. It was a treat for the guests since the former president made a surprise appearance as well.
Indeed, Obama has been making a mark in history with her latest achievement as a writer. We might have to expect more since Penguin Random House supposedly offered $65 million to Obama and her husband for a two-book deal.
On the subject of “Becoming,” Obama tells in her book about the time she and the Queen placed their arms around each other, which shocked many royal fans.
The former First Lady said it was a kind gesture after sharing a secret that all women know too well.
