Josephine Desgrand from Queensland, Australia was relentlessly bullied by her peers. Wanting to look amazing for her senior prom, she decided to lose weight. Now, she looks incredible.
Desgrand weighed 278 pounds when she was 16 years old, which made it tough for her as a young high school student. She constantly felt terrible for how she looked, and the teen feared that she might never have the courage to end her unhealthy relationship with food.
The teenager was constantly shamed at school, and one day, she had enough. She thought about graduating and starting a new chapter of her life, but she knew she had to make changes. She needed to be healthy.

THE JOURNEY TO PROM
When she thought about her prom, Desgrand knew she wanted to look beautiful and comfortable in her own skin. That was her motivation to change into a healthier diet.
Right from the start, she realized that the journey wouldn’t be easy. At the time, she thought that she had to start as soon as possible.
Just as she predicted, the road was tough, but Desgrand started seeing results and was motivated even more.
Eventually, after two years, she was able to lose 138 pounds without going under the knife. She did it in a healthy way, which makes her even prouder.
Desgrand made an Instagram page where she shares her journey and some tips on losing weight.
She shared that she had a low-carb, no-sugar diet for two years. Starting by eating natural sugars for the first six months. A year later, she had lost 63 kgs.
“I do not see this as a diet to lose weight. I see this as my new lifestyle change,” she said.
For the first year of her journey, the teenager didn’t enroll at any gym since she was too ashamed. She vowed that she would only go to a gym when she had lost some weight and was more comfortable in her skin. Desgrand said her goal at the gym was just to tone her body.
“In these two years I have faced some very difficult challenges but I have chosen to pick myself up and keep moving. Everybody has bad days, never let a stumble be the end of your journey,” shared the young woman.
On her Instagram, Desgrand shares diet tips and before-and-after photos of herself to inspire others. She wants to encourage her followers healthily by also posting inspirational thoughts.
“Health isn’t just about what you’re eating and drinking. It’s also about what you’re thinking and saying. Make your mental health a priority. Self-care is how you take your power back!” she exclaimed.
Just as she planned, she was able to lose weight before her prom night. Needless to say, she looked stunning in her shimmering, red, strapless dress.
Desgrand is the perfect example of those who achieve their goals because they put their heart and minds into it.
