MELANIA TRUMP WEARS DOLCE & GABANNA AFTER RACIST CONTROVERSY
Melania Trump stepped out a Thanksgiving in an elegant creation by the Italian design team, Dolce & Gabanna. The First Lady's sartorial choice was seen as a gesture of support for the harried fashion brand which is under fire for racism and cultural stereotyping.
Dolce & Gabbana launched a series of ads in China promoting the brand that has landed them in hot water.
In one of the ads, a Chinese model is seen attempting to eat Italian food with chopsticks and failing miserably, even as a Chinese language voiceover taunts her with suggestive innuendos, intentionally mispronouncing the non-Chinese words.
Since the release of the ads, Dolce & Gabbana have had to contend with backlash from critics, and widespread cancelation of events all over the world.
“Melania has always been a huge fan of Dolce & Gabbana, she absolutely loves their clothes and likes both designers Domenico [Dolce] and Stefano [Gabbana] personally.”
The First Lady, who was a fashion model, is a personal friend of the designers and an admirer of their work.
