After a devastating diagnose of stage 4 cancer, little Cameron Scott went through a lot to fight the disease just like the superheroes he admires. Today, he’s cancer-free, and his family is forever grateful with St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

When Cameron fell down the stairs at his home, neither he or his parents would have imagined that MRI to check if he had was fine would change their lives forever. "It was like an out-of-body experience,'' his mother, Tamika Scott, told TODAY.

"They initially showed us the back and his spine, and the doctor looking at the pictures turned to the other doctors and said, 'I need another MRI. I need you to scan upward.'''

Cameron was diagnosed with a rare type of brain cancer called medulloblastoma that had spread to his spine. It was on its stage 4, so the doctors needed to act quick.

The brave boy underwent four hours of surgery to remove the tumors, but that was just the start of his journey against the high-risk disease.

St. Jude gene sequencing discovered that Cameron’s cancer was conformed of four diseases, information that helped not only to prescribe the right treatment for the boy but also to develop a trial that will potentially save more kids’ lives.

Scott received a highly-targeted treatment with chemotherapy and radiation for over six months. "He's my hero,'' said his father, Wendell Scott.

HE WON THE BATTLE

Luckily, the treatment worked, and Cameron is now cancer free. "I feel amazing," the adorable boy told TODAY. "I feel like I've been through everything."

To celebrate that he won the war against cancer, Cameron was treated to a special day at Legoland in California, where he was able to meet his favorite superheroes and even became Batman for a day, which is his favorite superhero. And he has a valid reason for his choice:

“His philosophy is, well, all of the other superheroes have superpowers, Batman uses his brain,” explained his father.

Cameron is the youngest of six children and considering the high costs that his treatment would have taken on his family, Wendell and Tameka are eternally grateful with St. Jude, a hospital that runs mostly on donations and that never presents a bill to the parents of kids with cancer.

Just a few days ago, Brook Brothers hosted their annual Holiday Celebration to raise funds for St. Jude. Many celebrities were present, including Sofia Vergara, James Franco, Emma Roberts, Nicole Ari Parker, and Boris Kodjoe, and more.

ANOTHER CHILD BATTLING A RARE FORM OF CANCER

While Cameron is already cancer free, there are thousands of children out there still fighting for their lives against different types of cancer.

One of them is 4-year-old Zac Oliver, from the U.K. The boy was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia called Near Haploid, which could only be treated in Philadelphia. Zac’s family created a Just Giving page to raise money to pay the trip to America and the treatment, and they received a shout out from Simon Cowell, who donated £50,000 and encouraged more people to donate.

Thanks to all the donations, the family was able to travel, and little Zac is now getting the treatment he deserves. However, his fight is far from over, and in the most recent update his mother gave on Facebook, she revealed the boy would probably spend Christmas and boxing day getting chemotherapy.

Zac is getting support and encouragement from people all over the world, and now the family is trying to raise more money after realizing there many other factors they didn’t take into account on their first fundraiser.
