Remember classic film 'The Sound of Music'? You would barely recognize its actors now
“The Sound of Music” is one of the most famous and beloved musical films of all times. Many of its iconic cast members are still acting and look entirely different from what they did in the movie.
The film is about an aspiring nun, Maria (played by Julie Andrews), who does not quite fit in in her convent and is sent to work as a hostess at the home of a naval captain, played by Christopher Plummer.
“The Sound of Music” is set in Austria during WW2 which creates tension and challenges for the characters.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Dame Julie Andrews, who played the female lead in the film, has had an impressive career, both on stage and screen.
She has starred in hit films such as “Mary Poppins,” “The Princess Diaries,” and “Victor/Victoria.” She is now 82 years old and still working in the industry.

Christopher Plummer, who played Captain von Trapp in the film, has also had a long acting career. Since “The Sound of Music” he has acted in “The Last Station,” “Remember,” and “Waterloo,” amongst others.
He is 89 years old and has received two Tony Awards, two Emmy Awards, the Canadian Screen Award for Lifetime Achievement and an Oscar Award.
THE MUSICAL
“The Sound of Music” is not only a film but also a stage musical. It was first performed in 1959 on Broadway and is still being staged across the world.
This multiple Tony Award-winning musical was the last one written by the duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein the second.
