'The Sound of Music' star Julie Andrews is 82 now and she looks stunning
One of the world's most famous and distinguished actresses, Julie Andrews, has proved that age is just a number.
The 82-year-old shot to fame when she starred in Broadway musicals, including My Fair Lady, Eliza Doolittle, and Camelot. Despite her age, Julie has remained exceptionally healthy and beautiful over the years.
Born Julia Elizabeth Wells, the Mary Poppins star is now a grandmother to nine children.
In an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, Kayti Edwards, Julie's granddaughter, has opened up about her memories of growing up with the award-winning actress.
The 41-year-old is the daughter of Jennifer Edwards, Julie's husband Blake Edwards' daughter from his first marriage.
"I could walk to her house in Malibu... we'd be there all day," she told the publication.
Kayti said that family time was important as her grandmother's life was very busy. She revealed that Julie was very strict and very protective grandmother. "She guarded us," she added.
Kayti went on to say that their family bonding allowed her to see a side of her grandmother that few others did, according to Closer Weekly.
"She's actually a real person. She gets angry. She has feelings. She is not the character you see in the movies," she explained.
Kayti also shared the lesson she learned from Julie and 'it's to nurture the people around you.'
In 1964, Julie made her feature film debut in Mary Poppins. Her other notable works are The Sound of Music, The Americanization of Emily, Hawaii, Torn Curtain, and Thoroughly Modern Millie.
The iconic actress was made a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II for services to the performing arts in 2000.
Among the several accolades she has received in her career are Academy Award, BAFTA, Golden Globes, Emmys, the Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award, the Kennedy Center Honors Award, and the Disney Legends Award.
