"Melania is subjected to a particularly brutal kind of treatment and mockery... No other modern First Lady has been treated like this."

COMMENTS REFUTE KURTZ'S CLAIM

Kurtz's statement that Melania Trump is being treated worse than any other modern First Lady was answered with a flood of protests.

Many internet denizens pointed out that Michelle Obama had been subjected to vicious attacks by his own network, and been harshly criticized for her looks, her weight, and her race.

KURTZ ACCUSES JIMMY KIMMEL OF MOCKING MELANIA

Kurtz told Laura Ingraham that the First Lady has been a target of mockery for Jimmy Kimmel who has mocked her accent on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Kurtz believes that other First Ladies, such as Michelle Obama, were never attacked by the “mainstream media.”

TRUMP'S RELATIONSHIP TO THE PRESIDENT IS SCRUTINIZED

Like no other First Lady, Kurtz says, Melania's relationship with her husband is under constant scrutiny and subject spurious speculation: Every trip she takes or does not take, if she swats her husband's hand away, or does not smile.

THE FIRST LADY AND THE PRESIDENT'S SCANDALS

Like Hilary Clinton before her, Melania has had to deal with the scandals brought about by her husband's sexual indiscretions. One of them, an affair with pornstar Stormy Daniels, took place while she was pregnant with her son Barron, 12.

Even though she labeled herself the "most bullied person in the world," Melania has weathered the storms with commendable cool.

Though Kurtz expresses his indignation, Melania Trump seems to take it all in her stride, with the same enigmatic smile. Like any First Lady, she knows that the scrutiny and the criticism come with the territory.

THE FIRST LADY THAT CAME IN FROM THE COLD

Melania Trump is the first First Lady to be a naturalized citizen, and only the second to be born outside the United States.

She was born Melania Knauss in Slovenia, once part of Czechoslovakia and under the dominion of the USSR.

The First Lady studied design and architecture at the University of Ljubljana and speaks Slovenian, French, Serbo-Croatian, German, and Italian, as well as English. She worked as a fashion model through agencies in Milan and Paris, later moving to New York City in 1996, where she met her future husband, Donald Trump.

Melania became a permanent resident of the United States in 2001 and married Trump in 2005. She is the most popular member of the Trump administration, and polls show her approval ratings outstrip her husband's and her stepdaughter's.

In a related story, Melania Trump was criticized after unveiling the White House's extravagant Christmas decorations.
