Fox News host Howard Kurtz comes out in defense of Melania Trump and stirs up controversy.
Journalist Howard Kurtz, host of Fox News's Media Buzz program, and former media writer for the prestigious Washington Post came out in defense of First Lady Melania Trump, claiming that she is badly treated by the media.
The news host was a guest at "The Ingraham Angle," and his statements triggered an avalanche of response on Twitter.
"Melania is subjected to a particularly brutal kind of treatment and mockery... No other modern First Lady has been treated like this."
Kurtz's statement that Melania Trump is being treated worse than any other modern First Lady was answered with a flood of protests.
Many internet denizens pointed out that Michelle Obama had been subjected to vicious attacks by his own network, and been harshly criticized for her looks, her weight, and her race.
Kurtz told Laura Ingraham that the First Lady has been a target of mockery for Jimmy Kimmel who has mocked her accent on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Kurtz believes that other First Ladies, such as Michelle Obama, were never attacked by the “mainstream media.”
Like no other First Lady, Kurtz says, Melania's relationship with her husband is under constant scrutiny and subject spurious speculation: Every trip she takes or does not take, if she swats her husband's hand away, or does not smile.
Like Hilary Clinton before her, Melania has had to deal with the scandals brought about by her husband's sexual indiscretions. One of them, an affair with pornstar Stormy Daniels, took place while she was pregnant with her son Barron, 12.
Even though she labeled herself the "most bullied person in the world," Melania has weathered the storms with commendable cool.
Though Kurtz expresses his indignation, Melania Trump seems to take it all in her stride, with the same enigmatic smile. Like any First Lady, she knows that the scrutiny and the criticism come with the territory.
