While addressing the report of the much-talked-about rift between the Duchess of Sussex and Kate Middleton, 74-year-old Thomas Markle offered his daughter advice to “put the differences aside.”

“If there is any animosity between Meghan and Kate they should put their differences aside,” Thomas told the Sun.

However, regarding other criticism against his daughter, Thomas stated that he found them upsetting. He further stressed that he did not think even “one-third” of all the controversies are true.

Thomas admitted that he has not contacted his daughter ever since she married Prince Harry, and the fact that he cannot offer her any help at such a time is heartbreaking for him.

“I’m very upset by the criticism Meghan is getting. I don’t think she deserves it and I don’t think she is doing one-third of the things she is being accused of doing.”

The father of the Duchess further opined that he did not believe his daughter has any intention of hurting Middleton.

“I’m not buying that she made Kate cry. First off, I think Kate is a stronger woman than that,” Thomas told the Sun.

He then argued that Middleton is the “hero mother,” who is in a stronger power position than Meghan. He cannot imagine Middleton being so weak as to cry.

The upset father further lamented that fact that he cannot call on his daughter to personally ask about the situation. “I need to know why she is being bashed every day,” he added.

The silence between them is causing him and the rest of his family a huge misery, Thomas confessed. His daughter’s marriage into royalty was one of his proudest moments in life, but he admitted that it was now starting to turn into a nightmare.

Thomas is also grieved by the way Meghan seems to have cut off all communications with him. He told the news outlet that he considers himself to have been a good father, who has done nothing wrong and cannot think of any reason for Meghan to treat him this way.

The rumors about the increasing differences between the Cambridges and the Sussexes has been rife for the past few months, which was further fueled by the announcement that Meghan and Prince Harry are moving out of Kensington Palace.

Information from palace insiders has further indicated that Harry and William quarreled about Meghan joining the family so much that the Queen herself had to intervene.
