Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have good reason for still not being married after decades together
35 years, four children and still, they are not married. There is an excellent reason behind this: It works for them.
Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have been partners for an impressively long time - over three decades. Between them, they have four children: Oliver and Kate Hudson, born to Hawn in her marriage with musician Bill Hudson of the Hudson Brothers; Wyatt Russell, which they share; and Boston Russell, born to Russell by Season Hubley.
Through the years, talk of marriage had come up a few times, but both stood by a decision they had taken when they first started dating; they will not tie the proverbial knot.
Their decision is quite understandable because both have endured failed relationships in the past. Hawn had been married to dancer (and later director) Gus Trikonis way back in 1969. They separated 4 years into the marriage. Goldie later got married to Bill Hudson in 1976, but that also failed as she filed for divorce in 1980.
Russell on his part was once married to actress, Season Hubley; a union which ended in 1983.Speaking about her relationship to "Loose Women," Hawn confessed that she does not believe marriage is the cause of a strong bond between partners. She stated:
‘Marriage is an interesting psychological thing. If you need to feel bound to someone, then it's important to be married. If you have independence, if you have enough money and sense of independence and you like your independence, there's something psychological about not being married because it gives you the freedom to make decisions one way or the other. For me, I chose to stay, Kurt chose to stay, and we like the choice.’
The 73-year-old who still likes to flash her curvy figure, went on to mention that they had once asked their children if they should get married, but the kids discouraged them by saying everything is perfect as it is.
She also advised that good long term couples should spend only 68% of time together, as opposed to new couples who always want to be together.
Whatever the couple is doing is working for them; frequently seen together in a lovey-dovey mood. Few days into the new year, an Instagram video posted by Hawn hilariously showed them trying to sing The Beatles’ 1964 classic I Want To Hold Your Hand after they unpacked a toy microphone for an at-home karaoke session.
Russell and Goldie melodiously sang the song sitting on the couch, while reading the lyrics off Hawn’s phone.
These two have certainly made their unmarried status work so far.
