R Kelly's ex-wife claims the rapper stopped paying child support and tried to avoid his kids
R. Kelly’s ex-wife, Andrea Kelly, who is also one of his alleged sexual abuse victims, has revealed that the singer does not pay child support or interact with his kids anymore. Andrea also explained how Kelly is still “abusing” her.
Andrea was a guest on "The Bert Show" where she shared new details about the man who was once her husband and who is now embroiled in a messy sexual abuse/pedophilia scandal.
The former dancer disclosed the last time Kelly made his child support payments.
“Even now, financially I am being abused. He stopped paying child support as of June,” Andrea said, adding:
“When I came out and told my story, that was the last time he paid support. Because again, you can’t abuse me physically ... you can't abuse me emotionally ... so you abuse me financially.”
Andrea also shared that the “Gotham City” singer has stopped speaking to their three kids, Joann, Jay and Robert Jr.
“It is very difficult. He has no relationship with his children now. He doesn't call them; he changed his phone number,” she said. “We don't have that phone number. Like, what dad does that? But that's him.”
Andrea continued:
“At the end of the day, what do you tell your children? They call him ‘Robert Sr.’ They don't call him ‘dad’ because he’s so disconnected from his children.”
Last week, Joann Kelly, who now performs under the name aka Buku Abi finally broke her silence since her estranged father’s renewed sexual abuse allegations.
In a lengthy Instagram message, Joann said:
“The same monster you all confronting me about is my father. I am well aware of who and what he is. I grew up in that house. My choice to not speak on him and what he does is for peace of mind. My emotional state. And for MY healing.”
She went on to say a prayer for all the families affected by Kelly’s actions, making sure to emphasize that she, her siblings, and their mother, do not condone any of it.
Andrea was one of the many alleged victims featured in an explosive Lifetime docu-series titled “Surviving R Kelly.” The emotional three-part production investigates “the singer’s numerous allegations of sexual, mental and physical abuse.”
