The mother-to-be is often seen rocking a piece of jewelry from her late mother-in-law's collection; as a way of honoring her.

As expected of a member of the royal household, Megan Markle is often showing up at events in beautiful dresses and stunning jewelry.

It is however interesting to note that sometimes, Markle models her look after late mother-in-law, Princess Diana - who can indeed be said to be a fashion icon back in her days.

When Markle appeared at the Royal Albert Hall on January 16 alongside her husband, Prince Harry to enjoy the Cirque du Soleil performance which supports a charity that caters for children and young people living with HIV in southern Africa; she could easily be said to be mirroring Princess Diana.

The 37-year-old Duchess wore a sequined navy blue dress with a thigh-high slit by Roland Mouret - estimated to cost £3,400, similar to a gown rocked by Princess Diana in 1986. Markle then accessorized with a gold ribbed bangle; navy and diamond accents, which had once been seen on the late Princess when she visited a seniors' home in Newham, East London back in 1990.

Prince Harry on his part wore a matching navy blue suit - couple goals right? - with a grey tie.

This occurrence is only one of the many times that Markle could be seen honoring Harry's late mum. After announcing that they were expecting a baby, the Duchess was seen wearing a pair of butterfly earrings. The Princess of Wales once wore this while on a trip with Prince Charles to Canada in May 1986 - about a year and a half after Diana birthed Harry.

On her wedding day, she also rocked Diana's aquamarine cocktail ring to the wedding reception at Frogmore House, providing an excellent color contrast to her white Stella McCartney reception dress.

Also, when Megan and Harry announced their engagement, her engagement ring included two diamonds from Diana's collection.

'It's so important to me to know that she's a part of this with us,' - the Duchess said of the ring in their first joint interview after the engagement.

Harry also mentioned in the interview that he imagined his mother would:

'just be over the moon, jumping up and down, so excited for me' - about the news of his engagement.

It is so sweet that the couple continues to remember and honor Diana, especially as they are about to start a family.
