Down syndrome model, 14 takes the internet by storm after her mom posted a picture as a 'joke'
Georgia Traebert, who has Down’s syndrome, became an internet sensation after her mother posted a picture of her on Facebook.
The 14-year-old Brazilian girl went on to sign up for five modeling agencies, as reported by The Sun.
Georgia was diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome shortly after birth and Rubia decided to quit her job to take care of her full time.
"It all started as a joke,” said her 44-year-old mother Rubia Traebert, who shared her now viral photo in June 2016.
“I posted a picture of her on Facebook, and it was a hit straight away. The idea was to see how much it can inspire other DS [Down's Syndrome] children.”
The teen shot up to celebrity status, amassing more than 50,000 followers on Instagram.
IN-DEMAND MODEL
“Today she is listed in five modeling agencies but what really worked was Instagram and Facebook. That's where she became known worldwide. Now jobs have started to appear; she has just made a commercial for a famous brand here in Brazil and also modeled for one of the biggest jewelry designers in Brazil,” Rubia said.

“Naturally, at first it was a shock for us, but since the very first moment she was born she was received with a lot of love,” Rubia said. “Of course, the news took us by surprise. I confess that at the time I was filled with a mixture of sadness and insecurity.”
ANOTHER DOWN'S SYNDROME MODEL
Georgia’s story calls to mind the experience of Marian Avila, who successfully broke into the modeling world despite her having Down’s Syndrome.
The 21-year-old Spanish model even became the star of the New York Fashion Week in 2018.
She became the first Spanish model with Down Syndrome to walk the runway at New York Fashion Week, which was her dream.
She achieved her dream with the help of a young woman from Florida who read an article about her. This woman was the daughter of a fashion coordinator of the New York Fashion Week.
