Woman Outraged at Being Invited to a Birthday Party and Forced to Pay $200 for Dinner

It wasn't all fun and games for a Redditor with username "Cohen14722" recently when she was asked to pay the bill at a friend’s birthday celebration.

Reddit was bursting with disapproval over the story of hosts who asked guests at their party to pay their own bills.

Cohen14722 wasn't too happy as she posted her plight of how she and her husband were invited to a friend's husband's birthday.

During the narrative in which she refused to mention names, Cohen14722 explained that she and her husband were going through some financial changes and were on a budget which was quite strict.

The party was held at a luxurious restaurant and included a little above fifteen guests.

The Redditor stated that she and her husband earlier planned to order a low-profile meal. The menu, however, contained other varieties of meals which they quickly adjusted to because “The waiter indicated that the meal was being paid for by the hosts and because we're part of the party, we needed to order from the pre-planned menu.”

However, the party took an uncool turn when the waiter announced the bills. The host couple wasn’t able to keep up their end of the bargain. They, therefore, made it known that guests would have to pay for their own meals.

Cohen14722 couldn't hide her disapproval at such an unusual development. Their meal came to a total of $211. She added that she was disoriented and wasn't able to come to terms with paying for a party she was invited to.

“I thought I was going to throw up. I have never spent that much on a meal."

The Redditor and her husband weren’t the only ones who found the situation ridiculous as another couple looked perplexed as well. but they kept things under control and conformed to paying their food bills.

Cohen14722 made sure to text her friend saying “Thanks so much for inviting us to ***’s party. We had a great time. Just a heads up for next time, we really need to know if going to a party is going to cost more than $100. We are on a really tight budget so that a heads up would be appreciated. Thanks again.”
